The Founder's Journal is a home for the parts of building a company that don't usually make it into a pitch deck — the first uncertain months, the co-founder conversations, the fundraising near-misses, and the small systems that quietly keep a young company standing.
We publish founder diaries, startup stories, funding explainers, and honest conversations with the people building things right now — across every stage, from the first sketch on a napkin to the first hundred employees.
What we believe
Most founder content is written after the fact, once the outcome is known and the story has been smoothed into something instructive. We're more interested in the version before that — written closer to the moment, with the doubt still in it.
We're independent, reader-supported, and edited by a small team who have spent time on both sides of the table: building companies, and writing about the people who do.
